Hi guys, just a quick one before the weekend from me, John's last report did a very god job of describing conditions, the fish bite and flies so I won't spend too much time there. Suffice it to say that the river is in much better shape now than it has been and there's plenty of fish around so on a good day things are just great! (Eeven if we haven't held on to most of 'em... ;^)

I've only been out on two trips myself since my last report on the 14th, but they were fun days, both of them. On the 15th it turned out I had Chris, a regular and Logan, a first timer. Took a chance and asked them if they minded me bringing a gun along since I did have a deer tag to fill and we'd be around plenty of public land. The answer I got was that they'd be disappointed if I didn't...

Long story short is that I'd been jumping a nice buck in the same area on several mornings prior to the trip and we jumped a nice one again, but not the monster I'd seen a few times before... Score for the day, one eight point buck in the boat and a fine start to the day! A few minutes after that we stopped at our first hole and within three of Logan's very first cast we had another large buck on the line, only this time it was around ten pounds and very silver. Got a very good battle out of him with lots of cartwheels and what not, but he eventually tossed the hook. We are, by the way, absolutely euphoric with our day already now!

Hit three more large Steelhead over the course of the day to put us 1 for 1 on deer and 0 for 4 on Steelhead, but only got one of those anywhere close to the net before loosing them. Great battles on each regardless and very happy to have 'em. Decided to hit two more spots quick while we still had some light at the end of the day and the fish gods rewarded us with one we could net to conclude a very active and most exciting day. I told Chris to hold this one WAY out... (He, he, he...)

What's that saying? A fish in hand...

Not my "monster", but a shooter none the less!

It was great having you guys and I'll look forward to more before we leave for Argentina in January Chris...

On the 16th I took the father and son team of Ron and Brian out for the day. I'd had Ron before, but we figured out that it had been almost ten years ago since Taz was only eight months old the last time! We did a later start and did not have the time to run much river, but I don't think it mattered much. John had Chris and Logan that I'd had the day prior in the same section and even though they moved a few non-committal fish on Streamers between spots, the Steelhead bite was just not on for any of us.

I'm assuming that had something to do with the weird weather patterns we experienced thru out the day, but we had a blast none the less and both Ron and Brian honed their indicator skills to a fine tune. I've got to say that those two rank right up there with some of the most upbeat and fun guys to be with on the water that I've ever had and I am seriously looking forward to the next time, only let's shorten up the lag time between trips! Thanks a bunch guys for making it so fun...

Ron and Brian working in the weather...

I haven't been out since as I've been helping Johnny Matson out by moonlighting down at the M-37 Meat Shack as a Deer Processor ever since for 10 to 12 hours a day, (And I'll need to get back at it right after this.) but I do have trips on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday that I'll report on next week sometime. Both John and I open up quite a bit after that, but hopefully a few of you will want to come up and keep us working. Folks, trust me on this, it truly is a great time to be on the water!

That being said, we are going to run our winter special again for both full and half days starting on December 1st and going thru March 1st, here's the deal... You can either get a free nights lodging with any full day trip (The hot tub is up and running by the way, a great place to relax after a fine day on the water!) or, a full day rate of $275. (Half day special rate is $195) We sincerely hope you'll take advantage of this and come spend some quality time out on the water with us !

I've got to get back down the road now and get back to work so till next time, tight lines and straight shots to all!
Steve
